Welcome to our Festival of the Arts performance-digital style. We are so incredibly proud of the work our students continue to create in this new world of learning. Thank you, families, for allowing your kids to participate in the noisy education of our classroom from your living rooms, kitchen tables, garages, and all points in between! We hope you enjoy today's publication of works, and keep watching your emails throughout the year for more releases via SoundCloud, YouTube and our social media. War of the Worlds- Envision Instrumental Music celebrated the golden age of radio with our participation in War of the Worlds. Enjoy these videos below for full length (or at least extended versions) of the music you heard in our collaborative production! If you missed it, click on the "War of the Worlds" tab above and listen to our CCA interpretation of the 1938 Orson Wells classic. Much of what we prepared in the last month was music from that era in keeping with the project theme. Also, keep scrolling down to the end of this page for a special holiday treat from your favorite instrumental musicians!
A special note about some of the material: This Year's Kisses came from a treasury of sheet music that was "rescued" from a very *cannot name names* prolific sound stage in Los Angeles-hint-your favorite large orchestra scored movies were DEFINITELY recorded there if they were recorded in the US. This special music collection was the studio library of radio musicians, and early film and TV recording "house bands". They have the years acquired and studios stamped on them, and it is very likely that the last people to perform this actual copy of the music did so live over the radio so many years ago. They were being cleared from forgotten filing cabinets and were intercepted on the way out. We will be visiting these treasures again, I am sure, but for War of the Worlds, we offer you This Year's Kisses, which the students agree, is a little fitting for the events of 2020. Pause the video at the beginning to see the lyrics and the way these pieces were published for live radio play.
